Baby carrier:
My personal favorite right now is the ERGO Baby Carrier - we went with the gender neutral black with camel lining. I absolutely love that it's a one shot deal for baby carrying, it works from infancy on and the baby can ride on your hip, sling style or on your back - not to mention the parent-child bonding experience of front riding in the "heart-to-heart" fashion. Feels GOOD for my back muscles, too! A++
UPDATE: Newly recommended stroller
As you can read below, we have a Graco Snug Ride car seat
and didn't want to go with a whole new travel system. Still, none of the Graco strollers we checked out "in person" had substantial enough wheels for our liking. Where we live, there are lots of gravel roads and rocky trails. By sheer luck, we wandered through a baby store and found the Revolution Stroller - by BOB and we are SO glad we did. We got the attachment which lets the BOB stroller accept our Graco SnugRide car seat!!! It weighs about 21 pounds, making it relatively easy to put in the trunk and collapsing it is so simple, neither Daddy nor I could believe it.

Car seat:
Between all the positive reviews and the friends who had these, we chose a Graco: SnugRide2 Infant Car Seat. You can purchase multiple Graco Snug Ride Infant Car Seat Bases for family vehicles or grandma and grandpa's car, too! Once we had the car seat though, I had to hunt around for a stroller that accepted this seat. You can use the Graco: SnugRide Infant Car Seat Frame
! Also, I found that most Graco strollers (like the Graco: Mosaic Stroller Lotus among others) readily accept the Snug Ride, meaning the stroller will last you through the toddler years. I still think these strollers are great but not for any kind of rough terrain.
